Down Time: Tres Haiku

Away from the crowds
Protecting family and homes
Social distancing

Pantry stocked and full
No reason to leave the house
Worries cast aside

At home with the Lord
Family covered in prayer
Finally, down time

I’m not certain if I am the only one, but this forced social distancing feels like an answer to prayer. There have been times in my life when I was so busy and tired that I longed for down time.

I am convinced that God causes all things to work for the good of those who love Him. I also believe that if a plague is spreading, then He allowed it for a reason.

Could it be I am not the only one who needed down time?

Could it be we now have time to stop and pray?

I don’t have the answers, but I do know the following people need our prayers and could use some down time to replenish and gain a fresh perspective during this situation. Remember them in your prayer time.

Medical professionals
Military personnel
First Responders
Government officials
School officials/staff who are still working
Pastors
Business owners/managers
Truck drivers

I pray you all find perfect peace.

Isaiah 26:3-4 New Living Translation (NLT)

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

Love Letter From God #9

Daughters and sons,

What has you bound?
What has our countenance down?
What has you crying yourself to sleep?
What has you thinking you’re in too deep,
That I can’t reach
Where you’re found?

I Am the answer to what concerns you.
I Am the One who knows what to do.

Exchange you addiction
For the power of my Spirit.

Exchange your need to control
For the freedom of My Love.

Exchange the fear in your hearts
For the courage My Spirit imparts.

Exchange what has you distracted
For My Word that is still active.

Exchange despair for hope
Exchange anger for joy
Exchange what is temporary
Exchange what can destroy

For the plans I have for you.
You don’t have to carry anything alone.
I Am your Abba, the Holy One.

Trust Me
Yaweh

Release by CiMo

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you.

I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Daily Psalm: Inspiration from Psalm 130

I cannot stay away
Your unfailing love sings
Draw near to Me today.
And here I find myself
Soaring on glory wings
With Your love my belay.

Soaring by CiMo

O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.

Daily Psalm: Inspiration from Psalms 89

You’re no longer powerless
You’re no longer restricted
By the schemes of the enemy.

Yes, My strength is made perfect
In your weakness.
Nothing you face
Is too strong for Me.

Keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking
You will see
The victory.

My promises are still true
Let My Word see you through.
Feast on My Word
He is still speaking to you.

The loneliness will vanish
The tension will ease and release
AS you settle your eyes and heart
On Me.

You are no longer powerless
No longer defeated
You are not subject
To the times that are completed.

It’s over now!
You’ve come through
With My power and strength.

You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them. You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies. The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.  You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name. Your arm is endowed with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.

Daily Psalm: Art & Verse Inspired by Psalm 24

I’ve washed my hands.

And I’ve emptied my heart.

The gate is open and I pray,

Come now, Lord, and do Your part.

A psalm of David.

The earth is Adonai’s and all that fills it— the world, and those dwelling on it. For He founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers. Who may go up on the mountain of Adonai? `Who may stand in His holy place? One with clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully. He will receive a blessing from Adonai, righteousness from God his salvation. Such is the generation seeking Him, seeking Your face, even Jacob! Selah

Daily Psalm: Art & Verses Inspired by Psalm 2

Holy Father,

The city that we love
Has suffered long enough.
Lies, abuse, corruption
Along with all sorts of evil stuff

Has left us barren and dry.
We’re thirsty for Your water
We need Your Spirit’s rain
Before our hearts and grounds get harder.

Because we can ask,
We humbly blow
Requesting our cities
To be converted now.

Yes, we’ve overlooked what is needed
We’ve looked the other way
When every form of evil
Came out to play.

We’ve left our cities in the hands
Of the one who steals, kills, and destroys
But, Father God, we know
There are angle armies that You can deploy.

Forgive us and send Your help
We no longer chose to serve
The idol of self-centeredness
And the rituals we observe.

We want to do things Your way
To love and unite
To bear each other up
With Your Spirit’s might.

Thank You for healing our land
And make it Your place
A land that is alight
With love, mercy, and grace.

Passing Through

the next is now
i'm passing through
i'm moving forward
to greet the new.

what i'm leaving behind
was worth it all
because it helped me rise
to accept the call

to keep pressing on
toward the prize
spreading joy and peace
and touching lives

with the love of God
that never fails
i'm pressing through
and blazing new trails.

Clay: Tres Haiku

In the Potter’s hands
Disappointment, hurt, and fear
Become works of art

In the Potter’s hands
Rejection, failure, and pain
Conform to His plan

In the Potter’s hand
Bitterness, anger, and strife
Become His glory

And yet, O LORD, you are our Father.
We are the clay, and you are the potter.
We all are formed by your hand.

Love Letter to God #16

Oh Adonai,

For a brief moment
I began to wonder
Why this happened to
Me.

And You so kindly
Brought to my
Memory

A verse, a scene
That gave me
A clue

That what I faced
Wasn’t something
New.

Others have traveled
This road of troubles
Many more painful than
Mine.

So, in all of this
I must decline
The temptation to wallow and
Whine.

Instead, I will rejoice
That You already
Prayed

For me to overcome
And not be
Afraid.

And I will share with others
How You brought me through
And point them to the foundation
You laid.

Thank you for the price
You paid

And the love you have
Conveyed.

Your Beloved

Luke 22:31 – 32 (NLT)

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

John 17:20-21 (NLT)

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.  I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

The Light Outshines the Darkness: Dark Day #1

This is a testimony of how the Light of the World can turn mourning into dancing. When I use the term “dark days”, I am not referring to a 24-hour period. I am referring to a period in my life. I have had three significant dark days that Father God has used to teach me about His unfailing love, His unlimited power, and His ability to turn what the enemy meant for evil into something good.

The first “day” I would like to share is the period from around age 7 to 16 years. This day was scarred by molestation, rejection, humiliation, isolation, depression, and revelation. I won’t go into details about any specific event, but I want to share the revelation.

When I was 16, I had a dream. In the dream I was in a hospital as a patient. As I lay in the bed, I could hear the machines that monitored my heart beat. I could hear a steady beep, beep, beep, when suddenly the beeps turned into one long beeeeep! I was dead or dying.

I jumped from the bed and began to run down the halls of the hospital that had blue tile walls and floors. Even the ceiling was blue. I ran and ran until I fell on the floor. A bright light was shining on me and I woke up.

That dream shook me up and changed my outlook on life. It wasn’t long before I decided to accept Christ as my Savior. I learned that He loved me so much that He gave His life for me.

This week during one of my art times with Holy Spirit, I felt led to paint the picture you see. I recalled the dream as I was creating this and realized that in the dream I was running for my life. I didn’t realize it but Light was shining in the darkness of my life at that time and He gave me a dream to wake me up to know it.

Don’t stop running toward the Light!

John 1:5 (NLT)

His life is the light that shines through the darkness—and the darkness can never extinguish it.
